My Healthy Hair Journey

A few years ago I was noticing that my hair seemed to stop growing. My mom and sister have very long hair and mine was stuck. It really didn't make sense. And please, I am not complaining, oh wah, I feel so bad for her lol, I'm just saying that I was jealous and wanted to do something about it. So I started researching products.

The first thing I learned is that water matters! Our water in SLO is really bad! Its filled with minerals and needed to be filtered. So I bought a filter and instantly that helped. This is the one I bought: SHOP HERE I love that it is easy to install (I did it myself) and that it comes in a few colors. We bought brass to match our bathroom hardware and love it! We also got a whole house filter, which has been game changing but I will leave that to another post.

Protecting your hair when sleeping is also very important! I use 100% silk pillowcases from Amazon: SHOP HERE The silk helps protect your style and prevent breakage...its also better for your skin. Kitsch has some satin cases if you are looking for something a bit more budget friendly or fun prints: SHOP HERE

I have also learned that taking care of your scalp and keeping your ends hydrated is super important. My current routine is simple but effective, and it helps keep my hair feeling healthy and shiny — even though it’s highlighted.

Here are the three products I always use.

Step 1: Nourish the Scalp

I start with the Eternal Scalp Serum, applying it directly to my scalp and massaging it in with my fingernails or a scalp massager. A healthy scalp is key for strong hair growth and helps prevent excess shedding. I have used it for many months and have loved the results. It's also at a great price point compared to many other treatments I have tried and its made with clean ingredients.

Step 2: Brush twice a day with a Boar Bristle Brush

A good boar bristle brush is a game changer! It helps stimulate the scalp while also distributing natural oils through the hair, which promotes shine and overall hair health. The brushes from Rock and Ruddle are my favorite because you can wash and replace the bristles easily. I also love all of the colors and sizes. Brush the ends gently and make sure you dig deep in the scalp. It feels so good and is really good for your hair growth.

Step 3: Hydrate the Ends

To finish, I apply a hair oil to my ends for extra hydration and shine. This step is especially important for my bleached hair, helping keep it smooth and nourished without feeling heavy. I have tried a bunch and really like the Hair Gloss from Adorned. It smells like a spa and has a built in heat protectant.

This simple routine keeps my hair feeling healthy, glossy, and hydrated, and it’s easy to stick to consistently!

My last tip, especially if you are over 30, is to take a collagen supplement. As you get older, your body naturally produces less collagen leading to damaged hair follicles, thinning hair, and slower growth. I have seen a huge difference in my hair strength since adding collagen to my regimen and I have tried a few different supplements. I really like the Yu Premium unflavored collagen tablets because they are easy to take and also have hyaluronic acid and melon extract to help hydrate my skin, boost elasticity and reduce visible cellulite. If you would rather mix in your drink, they have a powder version of this formula or an orange flavored blend that is really tasty! SHOP HERE
